Founders Day Regatta
Saturday, August 16, 2008 9:00 - 1:00

The current Founders’ Day Regatta began as the Adams Marine cup race in 1976 and was renamed the Fairweather Trophy Regatta in 1981.  In 1986, the Regatta was designated as the “Taylor Memorial Regatta” in honor of founding member Ted Taylor, and took its current name of Founders’ Day Regatta in 1988.  For many years the skippers and crews sailing in the Regatta were required to switch boats after each race. This fun event is held in August of each year and is open to all boats, using the Portsmouth handicap system of scoring. A perpetual trophy existed for many years but was lost in 2003.
