DELRIPETT
The Delripett regatta had its beginnings as the Mayor’s Trophy, which was part of the “Wilmington Maritime Days” held in the Christina River starting in July 1978. It was later renamed the Cityside Regatta, and in 1981, took on its current name of the “Delaware River Perpetual Thistle Trophy” Regatta, or DELRIPETT. The Delripett became part of the East Coast Fall Series, a national Thistle Class event in 1985, and was expanded to two days in 1986. The Delripett remained a part of the East Coast Fall series until 2006. The Delripett is now the NCSC’s championship regatta, and it is typically scheduled for the last racing day of the season. Skippers are permitted to select their boat in order of priority based on their standings in the Club’s series races. The Delripett remains the most competitive of the Club’s regattas.
